Municipalities and Counties

In the fifth edition of 'Municipalities and Counties in Denmark - Tasks and Finance', published by the Ministry of the Interior and Health, the description of local government tasks and local government organisation and finance has been updated to reflect the situation in 2002.

The purpose of this publication is to describe local government in Denmark, exemplified by how local authorities and counties are organised, who handles the various tasks and how expenditure is financed. Moreover, the brochure briefly compares Danish local government with local government abroad.

The description includes the entire local government sector comprising local authorities and counties as well as the unitary authorities of the cities of Copenhagen and Frederiksberg.
